The Krystal Model Tray

Model Tray Design

An open base model tray affords the best view and certainty that die segments have been completely re-seated after sectioning. However, a tray without a bottom will not retain liquid die stone and the seepage causes a flash to form on the base of the tray which interferes with the reseating of the die segments.

Unique Krystal Sacrificial Membrane

Gives a perfect seal when pouring liquid die stone.

The unique Krystal Sacrificial Membrane, an integral part of the Krystal Model Tray, makes the seepage of liquid die stone a thing of the past.

Acts as a separator during articulation.

Once all plaster work and articulation has been finished the Krystal model is sectioned in the normal manner except that the sacrificial base of the tray is removed.

Easily removed to expose the base of the model

After the die stone has set, the base of the Krystal tray is removed with a standard wet or dry model trimmer. The sacrificial membrane is trimmed back until the base of the model is exposed to form the 'ideal' open based tray with the base of the model in exactly the same perfect plane as the base of the Krystal tray.

Central Die Retaining Tongue

The use of a central die retaining tongue gives a positive lock for the dies after sectioning without putting any physical barrier between the technician and the margins so that a full view of the buccal margins is maintained. Orange casting tongues are supplied to accommodate expansion of die stone and white working tongues for use in securely retaining model segments in the Krystal Model Tray. The SnapFree tongue removing tool makes the tongue easy to remove.

Positive Die Re-location

The design of the Krystal Model Tray allows models to be sectioned and reformed with an absolute check on the repositioning of each die and segment. Krystal Model Trays provide a clear set of visual checks of the model repositioning and the carefully calculated added model volume ensures maximum die stability, particularly in the lower anterior sections. The tray, membrane and model are all trimmed at the same time ensuring that the underside of the tray and the working model are in the same perfect plane.

Articulation

All normal methods of articulation can be used with the Krystal Model Tray system, including magnetic split cast, disposable Krystal articulators as well as most other glue-on disposable articulators e.g. Orbix, Vertex and Kwikalator.

But, above all, remember the Krystal Model Tray  can also be used as a closed bottom tray to give greater savings in cost.

Produced to eliminate the problems caused by the excessive expansion of die stone.
If, due to excessive die stone expansion, problems are encountered in completely replacing the white tongue use an Orange
Krystal Casting Tongue which has been produced to accommodate the excessive expansion.
